"Because of Binding Arbitration in new homebuilder contracts for the past ten years, literally tens of thousands of homeowners with defective homes have been denied their day in court. For the first time in many years, one victim of a bad homebuilder is finally being heard. Those who attend soon forget that this story is about Sandra Bullock, the star. Itâs about something much bigger than celebrity, it about basic consumer law and the constitutional right of a trial by jury,â said Janet Ahmad, national president of HomeOwners for Better Building.

Closing Arguments in the Sandra Bullock Trail to be heard Thursday
Austin, Texas â On Thursday, attorneys will begin closing arguments in the Travis County, 200th District Court of Judge Paul Davis in the Sandra Bullock case against her builder, Benny Daneshjou of Daneshjou Construction.
Jurors heard weeks of testimony about non-compliance with Austin minimum building codes, construction defects that caused an incredible amount of water intrusion, due to lack of flashing, defectively installed rock work, stucco and roofing materials, which caused damage to framing, rotting OSB board, and the presence of toxic stachybotrus mold.
The Daneshjou attorneyâs argued that their client (the builder) did not have to build to any higher standard than minimum standards, even for a $6.5 million home. âBecause of Binding Arbitration in new homebuilder contracts for the past ten years, literally tens of thousands of homeowners with defective homes have been denied their day in court.
