Tell Lawmakers to Reform Homebuilder Agency
Agency Provides Unfair Protections to Powerful Homebuilders

Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn recently released a comprehensive study on the Texas Residential Construction Commission (TRCC).  In her report, the Comptroller found that the TRCC has been acting as a “builder protection agency” and is powerless to force homebuilders to repair construction defects.

Tell your lawmakers that homeowners deserve better.  Under the TRCC rules, homeowners have no choice but to enter into the agency’s pro-builder process, shielding builders of shoddy homes from responsibility.

The TRCC subjects homeowners to a long, burdensome and expensive process.  The Comptroller’s report found that even after going through the process, 86% of homeowners had construction defects that were never repaired.  For most homeowners, their home is the largest investment they will ever make.  Texans need strong protections from builders who cut corners.  Tell the Legislature to act on the report and pass real reforms for everyday Texans.

Learn more about the Comptroller's report.

Tell your friends to contact their lawmakers.

Send a letter to the editor about the TRCC.
