Massive sinkhole forces evacuation of NW-side homes
About 20 families have moved to emergency shelters after a sinkhole formed in the backyards of a neighborhood near Bandera and Highway 1604. The homes sit on top of a 40-foot-tall retaining wall, but locals say two small cracks in the wall opened up Sunday morning. As the cracks widened, the homes above the wall began to shift, destroying foundations, fencing and man-made barriers.

Nearly two dozen homes on the northwest side are in danger of dropping into a massive sinkhole.
All homes near the wall have been evacuated.
The homes are in a subdivision built by Centex Homes. Calls to Centex were not returned.
One homeowner told KENS 5 that the incident isn't the first with Centex.
"We've been having problems with Centex," Javiera Arana said. "My wall had problems with cracks. They come and pack it with cement... [That's] all they do."

This is not a sinkhole but a landslide caused by the failure of the retaining wall...
