Builders Eliminate Hurricane Clips
In 2004 Pulte Homes decided to stop installing hurricane clips on houses that they are building in Sun City Hilton Head, a hurricane-prone area located near the coast. Pulte has recently resumed installing hurricane clips on new houses that they're building here, but refuses to install them in the more than 2,000 houses they built in 2004, 2005, 2006 and early 2007 Read more... |

County administrator acts quickly on trusses
I would like to thank Beaufort County administrator Gary Kubic for his quick and decisive work on the roof truss problems in Sun City Hilton Head. From the first call I made to him and through the repairs he required Pulte Homes to make to my home and several of my neighbors, he made himself accessible at all times. As for those who think that there are enough inspectors to check every single home before a certificate of occupancy is issued, you are living in a fantasy world. It's like expecting a police officer to be there the moment a crime occurs. It's not going to happen. |

Pulte Homes: Question Continue on the Sun City Defective Roof |

Questions continue on truss inspections
When will the systemic failure be addressed that allowed houses with previously noted deficiencies to be granted occupancy permits without those deficiencies being corrected? When will the systemic failure that allowed Pulte Homes to stop installing hurricane clips on valley truss connections in Sun City houses be addressed? Why is Beaufort County's building code enforcement office seemingly unaware hurricane clips have been an industry standard since the mid-1960s and that the industry has determined toe-nailed connections should not be used in a hurricane-prone area? |

Live in Sun City Hilton Head? Read this for a roof inspection update
Inspectors have ordered roof repairs in hundreds of Sun City Hilton Head homes, and some are set to receive a second round of repairs, according to an official with Pulte Homes, the developer of Sun City. Building inspectors have reviewed more than 1,270 attics since Beaufort County launched an investigation earlier this summer to check whether roof trusses in 2,600 homes were installed properly. |

As homebuilders struggle and houses get harder to sell, builder-bashing gripe sites are grabbing more attention and more traffic
The outside of Susan Sabin's house in Lenexa, Kan., is covered with lemons: lemon-shaped foam cutouts, twinkling lemon Christmas lights, and a lemon-adorned wreath on the front door. If you go to her Web site, you can see for yourself. You'll also see photographs of splintered beams, bowed floors, and a graphic that declares: "Pulte Homes sold me a lemon!" |

Some Sun City homes were approved for occupancy despite flaws, records show
Homes in Sun City Hilton Head with roof truss problems were checked during construction by Beaufort County building inspectors and approved for occupancy despite flaws, according to building code records. In some cases inspectors approved the homes after noting no deficiencies with the trusses, which are triangular wooden frames that support roofs. In other cases, problems with trusses were identified and repairs ordered, yet the trusses still have problems today, records show. "Obviously it was something that was overlooked," said county building codes director Arthur Cummings. |

ATTENTION all fellow veterans. We need your assistance in protesting the victimization of two veterans and one tenured government Department of Defense employee (Susan Sabin) who were sold defective houses constructed by Pulte Homes. Toilet paper is strictly regulated to comply with consumer protection laws that ensure the prodcut will not clog our septic tanks or city waste treatment plants. There are NO consumer protection laws in the United States that protect us from bad builders who sell us defective homes. Which of these two demands the highest level of consumer protection? Water trucks douse Pulte protesters in YouTube video
The Arizona AFL-CIO on Thursday said the organization has in its possession more than half an hour of video footage it claims shows a Pulte Homes water truck spraying paid picketers with high-pressure hoses...Petroulakis said the people shown in the video were paid by the union to picket at the worksite and added that picketers were warned that trucks would be spraying in the area, which is shown at the beginning of the video... But Kennedy said that the only editing done was to compress half an hour of footage from an incident into a two-minute Internet video. She added that her organization was aware of at least 15 other similar incidents. Related article |
