THE REAL IMPACT OF THE TRCC
Texans Abused by Builders, Abandoned by the TRCC

With the creation of the Texas Residential Construction Commission in 2003, Texas homebuilders were shielded from liability and given a free pass to build shoddy homes.  The following stories are true accounts of homeowners who are now left with nothing and no way to hold their homebuilders accountable.

Eliza & Bob Bushn
Dripping Springs, Texas

In 1999, Eliza and Bob bought a beautiful home they planned to retire in.  Because of a careless builder and the disregard of the TRCC, their home was torn down.  The Bushns lost over $750,000 and their builder received few consequences for their shoddy work.

Connie & Bobby Covington
Pleasanton, Texas

In 1999, Connie and Bobby bought land and began building their retirement home.  The house was defective from the beginning, but the couple felt pressure to close.  The house is now so dangerous, with scorpions and snakes residing in the walls, that they were forced out of their own home.

Alice & Bob Phipps
Brookeland, Texas

Alice and Bob had planned to begin retirement by building a modest home to grow old in.  Instead, they were deceived by their builder and lenders, resulting in nearly a half-million dollars in debt.  The Phipps now live in a sub-par home, with multiple defects, and no way to correct them.
