Homeowners Push For New Lemon Laws
Jim Strickland reports.  Homebuyers frustrated with shoddy construction and ineffective regulations are demanding change. They were at the capital today to begin to push for new legislation based on the Lemon Law that protects car buyers...  They want a new lemon law on new homes. Jeannette Martin likes the idea...  Her complaint to the state construction board went no where...  The home lemon law is the easiest way to give and give the biggest incentive to build home right the first time...  (Greg Cole) It's got to come to a stop.  We need to be protected and the only way we can do that is by legislation.  There is very little that can be done when you are stuck with a bad home. Family: Condemn Our $500K Moldy House
Homeowner Greg Cole said his John Wieland home has been trouble for nine years. This past summer the family finally moved out. They are on an Internet campaign against Wieland. They said they can't spend the holidays in their home in the North Hampton subdivision in Marietta because of the multiple species of mold...Greg Cole said that later this week he will ask the Health Department to condemn his house.

Wieland Homes settles Clean Water Act violations with EPA
Atlanta home builder John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods Inc. will pay $350,000 to the Environmental Protection Agency to settle alleged violations of the Clean Water Act stemming from five years ago.  A Wieland Homes affiliate, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods of the Carolinas Inc., also is a part of the settlement, one of the largest levied against a home builder this year.
