The Iler Story About Their Life Forms Homes
In The Woodlands, Texas
OUR STORY - the Ilers
We, Bruce & Sharyn Iler were force to leave our Life Forms home in the Lake Pointe sub division in the Woodlands on March 3 because of mold related to EIFS siding and other faulty issues on the part of Life Forms. It has been determined by independent structural and environmental engineers (not commissioned by the plaintiff's lawyer) and a Certified Industrial Hygenist that the house is structurally unsound and is not able to be repaired. IT'S TOTALED, along with most of our belongings - including family heirlooms, treasured pictures and mementos - and all upholstered furniture, bedding, clothing, linens, and nearly everything but our wooden items and housewares. First we lived in an RV behind our office. At the moment we're in a small furnished apartment looking for a next step.
After the first of our 7 years of Life Forms home ownership we approached Life Forms about rust spots on our house. They told us it was "oxidation" from the sun hitting the finish. They painted our house three times in four years. The last cover was rubberized. No more rust "oxidation" sponts, but the new paint finish created a growth haven for termites and mold inside, outside, and in between the walls. Life Forms answer was always to patch it and deem it repaired. Life Forms can no longer patch our or anyone else's home. As a result of their haphazard construction of not grading the lot correctly for the slab (in the engineering reports), not cauking windows and joints, not adhering to building codes, improperly installing flashing, and not correctly overseeing the application of EIFS - and not fixing the construction problems correctly, we can no longer live in our house and our lot is not fit for reconstruction without tens of thousands of dollars worth of work including removing the pool and the slab, including the driveway. And...Life Forms is just offering another patch job - fixing "moisture" spots and recovering them with EIFS, which hasn't been used in home construction since 1996. What would you think about the quality of this company if this is the result of their work and their service? Judge by the pictures you see and all these stories you read.
