Action 9: Shoddy Floor Work Has Homeowner Angry
The new floor, a hardwood laminate, covers the new den plus two adjoining rooms and hallways at his home, but there are sections with the edges sticking up. "Itâs vinyl, itâs vinyl â itâs supposed to be hardwood," Wright said...In the foyer itâs so bad that the vinyl is coming up in chunks.âAs you can see, something has dropped on this and vinyl is peeling right off," Wright said. "This is my pet project, added a new room on the house, where we wanted the new flooring,â said Skip Wright.
The new floor, a hardwood laminate, covers the new den plus two adjoining rooms and hallways at his home, but there are sections with the edges sticking up.
"You can feel the height of that," Wright said as flicked the edges with his fingers. âThey're sharp and they're high and I'm afraid a hand, a foot or sock or something will catch and then rip the laminate loose."
He also complains about the threshold boards connecting the rooms.
"Itâs vinyl, itâs vinyl â itâs supposed to be hardwood," Wright said.
In the foyer itâs so bad that the vinyl is coming up in chunks.
âAs you can see, something has dropped on this and vinyl is peeling right off," Wright said.
And in a bedroom, the threshold is no longer nailed down, and neither is a piece of den molding.
"As you can see, it is not even securely fastened down," he said.
Wright paid nearly $5,000 to Floors Today in Pineville to install the floor. He complained numerous times to two different managers.
"In June they sent a man; they sent another man out with a camera, he took pictures and said, âThis isn't right, this we need to take care of.â Nothing happened," XXXX said.
Later Wright went back to the store and encountered a new manager who wasn't familiar with his complaint. He got nowhere and called Action 9.
Action 9 got in touch with the store. The manager apologized and then agreed to give skip a $2,082 credit on his account balance.
For Wright, it was an unexpected Christmas present.
"As much as I see you folks helping other people, I never thought it would be me calling, but you have done a fantastic job and we are extremely happy," he said of Action 9.
