A home builder was fined almost $40,000 for alleged environmental violations at five sites in York County.
The state Department of Environmental Protection accused Maryland-based Altieri Homes of mismanaging erosion control and of causing sediment pollution in local waterways. Altieri has routinely violated environmental rules over the last three years, according to the DEP. A telephone call to the companyâs headquarters this morning was not returned.
Altieri has agreed to pay the fine and correct the problems within 30 days, the DEP said. Formally, two entities were accused of violations â Altieri Homes Inc. and Altieri Enterprises Inc. It was not clear who signed on to the formal agreement. |
