In May (17 months into the second construction of our home), my machine crashed during the never ending struggle with my builder, Ryland Homes. My neighborhood is Oakleaf Plantation inflicted upon its residents by The Hutson Company. Today, I have my machine up and have chosen to end the assault on my home by Ryland's Warranty Department (the people that they use to "finish building your home" ) after enduring 21 months of their inept attempts at delivering a home as promised; or up to code for that matter.
Our family's liberation was served up in an email containing a subject of "Good Riddance!" to all concerned parties as follows:
Twenty-one months after closing on our âNew Ryland Homeâ and you are still fumbling about; not to mention - Sill Not Done! Ryland Homes has been graciously given ample time by our family (in retrospect, too much time that has been egregiously mismanaged) to address the numerous structural and cosmetic defects (which has proven to be beyond your capabilities â technically and professionally) served-up with this albatross of a home. The Reese family will no longer be an ongoing victim of Ryland Homes and The Hutson Company. The last two and one half years have proven to be the worst times of our family â courtesy of Ryland Homes and their affi
lia
tes. The ongoing financial, physical, mental, and emotional distress and abuse inflicted by Ryland Homes upon each and every one of our family members will stop today! Today, we will begin to transform the construction site we have existed in for the last 21 months into âOURâ home despite Raylandâs best efforts to continue the mockery that has become our life! Beginning today, Ryland Homes will cease: coming to our home, calling our telephone, wasting our precious time, borrowing our tools, demoralizing our family, etc. Today marks the day that the Reese family will begin the struggle of taking back our lives and making ourselves whole again! Maybe, we will even be able to find a place called âHomeâ (you know, that place that is supposed to be safe, welcoming, fami
lia
r, and a haven from the rest of the world) amidst the ruins of the new home building industry! Good riddance!
The Reese Family
Hopefully, today will begin the first day of the rest of our life - somehow, I don't think it will be that easy.
