Donât give homebuilders a pass to cut corners on construction
We are the unlucky ones who bought homes
with expensive and dangerous construction defects â crumbling foundations, structurally deficient walls, leaky roofs and more. We
needed to have legal options to hold our builders responsible for making us whole again.

âAs the stateâs fourth-fastest growing community, having a variety of housing options within the city is critical to meeting our vision of a quality community for a lifetime,â said Mayor Sean Ford, according to the Denver Business Journal. (Denver Post file)
Re: âCities canât wait for lawmakers,â Aug. 9 editorial.
The homeowners of Build Our Homes Right were disappointed by the recent editorial encouraging metro-area cities to pass ordinances to shield developers from liability when they build defective products. We are appalled that city councils are stripping their constituentsâ rights in order to appease deep-pocketed developers.

While we do need more affordable housing in Denver, the last thing we need to do is give a pass to builders who cut corners and produce shoddy homes. The construction industry should demand a culture of excellence rather than lobbying to escape responsibility for substandard work.
City council members: Please vote to protect homeowner rights rather than deliver unearned giveaways to developers.
