Lennar lied to homeowners
Let's be realistic. When given a choice, people would not choose to build on expansive soil if they know that it will be a constant maintenance problem in the future. People don't intentionally buy new houses or new cars knowing that they will have to deal with high maintenance. We bought new homes not fixer-uppers.The issue everyone seems to ignore is I and many others were deceived by Lennar. By cutting corners to increase profits, Lennar willfully submitted a Builder's Certification that they had complied with HUD minimum standards, and falsified that there was no expansive soil. I did not choose nor am I willing to take the risk that what appears to be substandard foundations, will not stand the stresses of the expansion and contraction of this soil. Lennar has built a defective community and property values are falling because of their deceptions. They have jeopardized the good people who trusted them and trusted the City of Hutto to protect the welfare of their citizens.
Lennar lied to homeowners

The article in The Hutto News titled âCouncil discusses construction issues in Hutto Parke,â (Oct. 3) was very upsetting to me and my neighbors.
The city held a âpublic meetingâ without public comment, which would have been vital in formulating solutions and accurately reporting on the current status of the defective Lennar homes.
The report gives the impression that issues are not too serious and primarily limited to Lennar cosmetic repairs. (Your article) minimized the problems further by saying, âSometime bad things happen in life and folks just want to get past them and move on.â I for one would like to know how to âmove on,â and try to sell a home by minimizing the defects as ânormalâ because it is built on expansive soil.
Let's be realistic. When given a choice, people would not choose to build on expansive soil if they know that it will be a constant maintenance problem in the future. People don't intentionally buy new houses or new cars knowing that they will have to deal with high maintenance. We bought new homes not fixer-uppers.
I have yet to find one single neighbor that was asked if they were happy with the efforts Lennar has been making in Hutto Parke. To the contrary; issues between Lennar, the city and Hutto Parke are not resolved by any means.
I, for one, am not willing to be moved in and out of my house two or three times to do cosmetic repairs.
The issue everyone seems to ignore is I and many others were deceived by Lennar.
Beware when you hear Lennar claims that the builder's certification was merely a âclerical error.â Lennar has built a defective community and property values are falling because of their deceptions. They have jeopardized the good people who trusted them and trusted the City of Hutto to protect the welfare of their citizens.
We were sold homes without proper and legal disclosure of the soil type. I am very disappointed in the City of Hutto for standing behind Lennar and their deceptions and not listening to the cries of their citizens. Buying back my home is the only way Lennar can correct the injustices they have done.
Thank you so much for your time.
Respectfully,
Cheryl Rea, Hutto
