Trump - NAHB Homebuilders Shoddy Construction and Forced Arbitration

Organizing your community to bring public attention to builder’s bad deeds and seeking assistance from local, state and federal elected officials has proven to be more effective and much quicker for thousands of families. You do have choices and alternatives.  Janet Ahmad

Lennar Homeowner invests life savings in defective house
Wednesday, 14 November 2007

Residents want to forget building horror
I would love to move on with my life, and so would some of my neighbors in Hutto Park subdivision...I have invested my entire life savings to acquire a structurally defective home on expansive soil that was built, in my opinion, by dishonest, unethical builders, developers, city inspectors and sub-contractors that were out to make a big dollar. It is unconscionable for anyone to be sold a new house that would never pass an inspection.

Residents want to forget building horror

In response to article “Council discusses construction issues in Hutto Parke,” written by Nancy Royden, I would love to move on with my life, and so would some of my neighbors in Hutto Park subdivision.

We would like to forget - if that's possible - this horror story that has nightmares, heartaches, disappointments and crumbling dreams that Lennar builders has produced and directed with us as the staring roles!

I personally chose to move and live in Texas.

I chose to buy a house in Hutto.

I did not choose to have a house built on expansive soil.

I was never afforded the choice of making a competent decision because a disclosure of expansive soil was not presented to me before the buying contract or at the closing table.

I have owned many houses in different parts of the United States and been fortunate to have hometown independent builders that cared and prided themselves with the results of a house they built.

All this is true, but the most crucial fact is that, for me the individual homebuyer, I have invested my entire life savings to acquire a structurally defective home on expansive soil that was built, in my opinion, by dishonest, unethical builders, developers, city inspectors and sub-contractors that were out to make a big dollar. It is unconscionable for anyone to be sold a new house that would never pass an inspection.

So you say, Mayor Love, that we residents of Hutto Parke should stop picketing in fear that it “gives the impression to people that the neighborhood is not a good place to live.” Not on your life!

So you say, bad things happen in life and one must move on - do you actually find this situation acceptable?

Sincerely,

Marion Wallace, Hutto
