Sandra Bullock Recalls Housing Nightmare

Sandra Bullock Recalls Housing Nightmare

Sandra BullockSandra Bullock was thrilled when she got behind a bulldozer and demolished her multi-million dollar mansion after being duped by a shady construction contractor. The star hired M.B. "Benny" Daneshjou to build her $6.5 million mansion in Austin, Texas, only to find it unsafe to live in.

The star endured an eight-week trial in a Texas courtroom in 2004 before the jury eventually declared the house unfit for habitation or sale. Bullock, who attended the case every day, was awarded $7.8 million in damages. But she admits it was only as she demolished the house herself earlier this year that she could celebrate properly.

She says, "I was behind the bulldozer, at the controls. I was amazed not only by how good it felt, but how easily it all came down." The star will not rebuild on the site, adding, "After I tore it down, I looked at the land and said, 'I'm so sorry I did this.'"
