KB Homeowners Fighting Mad

Dozens of KB homeowners are fighting mad and taking their case to City Hall. They’re complaining about problems with their homes in the Northhampton, El Sendero and Tara subdivisions. KB homes admits having problems with shifting soils in the Tara subdivision but homeowners tell News 4 WOAI they wish they would have known about it before buying their new home.

Dozens of KB homeowners are fighting mad and taking their case to City Hall. They’re complaining about problems with their homes in the Northhampton, El Sendero and Tara subdivisions. KB homes admits having problems with shifting soils in the Tara subdivision but homeowners tell News 4 WOAI they wish they would have known about it before buying their new home.

Airforce Sgt. Roberto Rodriguez is so embarrassed about his brand new KB home, he won’t have company come over. “Here we are in the living room, you can see the walls separating from the ceiling, you can actually see the wood underneath the sheet rock,” said Rodriguez. “You can also see separating from the ceiling the cracks the door, the door won’t close,” said Rodriguez. As war with Iraq becomes likely, Rodriguez says problems with his house are so distracting it’s hard to focus on the nation’s defense.

“It’s so frustrating so upsetting I just want them to buy it back, let me keep going with my life and family that’s all I’m asking,” said Rodriguez. Meanwhile, KB home now says it’s ready to help Rodriguez in any way possible. Larry Oglesby is a KB spokesman, “we’re not going to stop short of anything from making it absolutely right, taking care of the home or doing whatever it takes, KB home will stand behind that product,” said Larry Oglesby.

KB home has hired an outside engineer to come to the Tara subdivision and find out what’s causing the soils to shift in Tara
