Family Fights to Get Crumbling Retaining Wall Fixed
Back in 2010, Pulte offered to buy back 27 of their homes in San Antonio when a similar retaining wall collapsed.“You would think after going through that that they would at least follow their own formula for resolution.,” Kristyn said. “We want for Pulte to buy back our home.”

Family Fights to Get Crumbling Retaining Wall Fixed
March 17, 2015, by ,

FORT WORTH – The beautiful backyard was one of the selling points when the Irizarry family bought their home in Fort Worth. Now they say it’s the reason they want out.

“We want to be able to walk away from here, and find a real forever home,” Kristyn Irizarry said. “And for our family not to be bankrupt in the process.”

Three weeks again, Kristyn and Elias Irizarry first noticed cracks in the large retaining wall in their backyard. Those cracks have grown almost daily. Their two young children, who once loved the yard and the pool, are now not allowed back there.

“Our children have not been back here in three weeks, and we can’t let them. There have been a couple of nights when our daughter has just been in tears and complete fear,” Kristyn said.

That fear is mixed with frustration.

The golf course on the other side of the wall says it’s not responsible. And the Irizarry family says Pulte Homes, the developer that built the wall and the neighborhood, refuses to talk with them and has even blocked them on social media.

They didn’t want to talk to NewsFix either.

Back in 2010, Pulte offered to buy back 27 of their homes in San Antonio when a similar retaining wall collapsed.

“You would think after going through that that they would at least follow their own formula for resolution.,” Kristyn said. “We want for Pulte to buy back our home.”

This nightmare could get even worse. There’s rain in the forecast for the rest of the week. Engineers have told the couple it could take less than five inches to collapse the wall completely.

“It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. We have no reassurance of safety. We have no security.”
