Please be advised that Diane Taylor does NOT speak for the residents of Fairhaven. We will be voting for a new HOA board in 2 weeks and will hopefully vote in people who have the residents concerns as a priority.

10:01 PM on June 17, 2012 Pulte knows these homes cannot be repaired. The few people that have had their homes repaired will be having to let them back in again and again in the coming years. These houses should never have been built on this site. The underground water will wreak havoc for years to come. Pulte knows they are wrong. If they want to improve or restore their tarnished reputation, they would be better served by buying back our homes rather than resorting to fluff pieces in local newspapers.            1 reply Bnkeymo 7:07 AM on June 18, 2012   Keep fighting them! Home builders are mostly snakes out to scam people and steal. It's not just Pulte, either... it's every single tract home builder in this city. They all use the same sub-contractors, most of who don't know what they are doing and nobody comes behind them to inspect the work. They take advantage of military buyers who come from out of state and have a small window of time to find something. I tell everyone to RENT FIRST for at least a year. Realtors are no help, either. They only want the commission and will lie to get the deal sealed.

gmama 8:44 AM on June 17, 2012 Don't drink Pulte's Kool-Aid!! We bought a brand new home so we wouldn't have foundation issues. Wham! Foundation cracks inside and out. We reported immediately to Pulte and they sent a worker out to tell us these cracks were normal and separation was just dried up caulk. When neighbors started talking causally, they discovered we all had the same issues and we were all being told the same lies, it was time to take ACTION!! We are moving forward too, to a resolution from Pulte that is the only "right thing to do" . BUY BACK!! Anything less than a buy-back is still robbery for those left with homes with no long-term stability of the construction and foundation. Reply Reply Recommend (1) Disapprove (0) 1 Share | E-Mail

No1youKnow 11:23 PM on June 16, 2012 When homeowners came to this beautiful fairhaven community to look for their dream home, the Home that would be where they retired or raised their family and to enjoy the American dream they have all worked so hard for, they never imagined the deceit and betrayal they would receive from Pulte. We were lied to, betrayed, swept under the rug, and robbed. SHAME ON YOU PULTE!! You have deceived so many home homers! You have 12 homes you have repaired? Look, just because these homeowners want to work with you and let you repair their homes for the next 10 years doesn't mean that any one else should back down! SHAME ON YOU PULTE for EXPECTING hard working Americans to just "live" with your mistakes!!! Mr. Pulte, if it was your mother, sister, brother, daughter, or son that was being forced to except a brand new built shoddy home from a "reputable" builder how would you react? What would you do? Tell them "oh it's normal" and put a bandaid on it? How do you sleep at night??? Let me tell you how I sleep at night... I CAN'T BECAUSE MY HOME IS FALLING APART!!!
DO THE RIGHT THING AND BUY BACK THESE HOMES! A buy back is the only fix that sticks!!!! Reply Reply Recommend (4) Disapprove (0) 4 Share | E-Mail

True Story:

How about the poor soul that had a crack from one side of the foundation to the other A Pulte employee told him " You should let us pour epoxy in the crack, it's not going to fix it but it won't hurt" ....How about that!!! Reply Reply Recommend (7) Disapprove (0) 7 Share | E-Mail | Permalink

janetahmad 9:39 PM on June 16, 2012 Is this the best Pulte can brag about? Only 12 homes repaired over the last 12 months? Certainly an embarrassment and nothing to brag about, since many of those homes are being repaired for the second and third time in the past year.

Pulte's meager claims come on the heels of a United States Attorney General's letter asking the FBI to investigate Pulte and D.R. Horton Homes regarding the Fairhaven and Stablewood subdivisions. The U.S. attorney referred to residents' complaints that center on builder's certifications, HUD Form 92541 that obviously make false claims, denying that the homes were built on expansive soil. Yet since the foundations failed at such an alarming rate Pulte and Horton both say cracked foundations are caused by expansive soil.

As for those City of Schertz ordinances. Talk about embarrassment… requiring builder conduct soil tests? Please, soil testing on each lot is already a minimal requirement to engineering foundations. However, maintaining public records is certainly NEW for Schertz who woefully admit to destroying public records. Reply Reply Recommend (7) Disapprove (0) 7 Share | E-Mail | Permalink [Report Abuse]

insider1 9:42 PM on June 16, 2012  You are right, and they should be embarrassed. The city is trying to impress but soil testing is already an engineering standard. Somebody please wake up the City Council in Schertz.....            Recommend (3) Disapprove (0) 3 Share | E-Mail |

PEretired 5:31 AM on June 17, 2012  A new house built on a cracked foundation is like a new car without brakes. The federal government has rigorous requirements for new automobiles, including inspections before they leave the factory and recalls for problems that are discovered later. The requirements for new houses, which typically cost several times more than a new car, are minimal. Inspections are handled by local government, often ineptly (the failed retaining wall at Hills of Rivermist and the cracked foundations at Fairhaven being cases in point). The defective houses at Fairhaven need to be "recalled". Brakes can be added to a car that doesn't have them; but, a cracked foundation, even "fixed", will always be a cracked foundation, and the soil under it will always be unsuitable.

They Drank the Kool-Aid offered by Pulte!

Pulte, homes are falling down..what a nightmare! And to add fuel to the fire, they pretend to care about the very people that they have deceived. Shame on Pulte! There are over 200 homes in the Fairhaven Subdivision and only a dozen are being repaired. There are MORE than 70 homes with MAJOR construction defects, some of which have been repaired atleast 2 times and some as many as 3 times.

So what is really going on here, well I will tell you-- Pulte is putting on a front, Pulte wants the public eye to believe that they are doing all that is necessary to make this right. NOT! Pulte is forcing some into repairs by going door to door and posing a threat, that is what Pulte is doing. Per Valerie D, they are talking to Pulte about allowing an engineer to create a repair plan. They are not given any other options.

How about this Pulte: How about you write letters to the homeowners that you have taken advantage of and tell them that you know you made a huge mistake in building shoddy homes and how about you tell them how you would like to BUY BACK THOSE HOMES!!! How about telling the truth about how many unsatisfied customers you really have. How about reminding them that since the wall fell in Rivermist, so did Real Estate sales. As for the "3" homeowners that are happy, We will see how happy they are in a few months.

Oh and nice try on the comeback Pulte. Just BUY BACK homes from those that know that you "CANNOT FIX A FAILED FOUNDATION". Pulte do me a favor and tell the Public what your employees told a few of the homeowners "we really do not know how to fix the foundation". And as for the City of Schertz--If the foundations are not designed to withstand soil conditions, then what is the point, you will end up with the same problems and if you have the same representatives on the council, you will end up with the same solution: "Absolutely None"

City of Schertz ordinances are just what the builders want, and there is NO CONSUMER PROTECTION IN SCHERTZ! NO CODE ENFORCEMENT! NO OVERSIGHT! Reply Reply Recommend (8) Disapprove (0) 8 Share | E-Mail |

Pulte should be ashamed to say they can "FIX" these brand NEW homes. Engineers know that after serious damage has occured to a foundation it can NEVER be fixed or returned to the original state that it was intended to be and for a length of time expected of a brand NEW home. Unless you pick up the foundation and LOOK at it, you have no idea if that foundation is in tact after the "FIX". Pieces can break off underneath; pillars and glue will not stand the test of time, especially with the soil that our homes are built on. The soil will continue to wreak havoc on these homes and Pulte will be LONG gone with no concern with the rubble they leave behind. Pulte doesn't care about this community or the city of Schertz. I love my home too and it breaks my heart that our community is facing these issues. Reply Reply Recommend (8) Disapprove (0) 8 Share | E-Mail

Stormchaser 2:58 PM on June 16, 2012 If Pulte had built these home correct in the first place, they wouldn't need to be making repairs. It is a SHAME what these residents are having to deal with!!!!! According to a City Representative.....They should have never built homes on that land! They need to be sanctioned for the Fraud that they committed!!! Recommend (1) Disapprove (0) 1 Share | E-Mail |

2:51 PM on June 16, 2012 I hope anyone reading this story is smart enough to read between the lines. If Pulte has already completed or scheduled over a dozen repairs on homes that are NEW, they didn't build these home right in the first place!! These repairs have been freshly competed, lets come back and talk to these residents in 6 months and see how "happy" they are!! Pulte is trying so hard to paint themselves as a company trying to please everyone and make repairs, the people that are asking for buy backs realize that their homes CAN'T be "fixed" and aren't impressed with Pultes efforts.

The City of Schertz is considering doing what they should have already ben doing for these residents. Really....City of of Schertz? Where were your ordinances when these homes were built?

I like your post! Truth being told, the solution that Schertz has come up with is in favor of the builder for the most part. Schertz is not going to hold the builder accountable. They do not care about the consumer because if they did, they would have taken care of this matter back in Feb 2011 when it was first presented to them. Their Actions speak louder than words. The issue is not that Pulte is making repairs , the issue is that Pulte has to make repairs on brand new homes. Reply Reply Recommend (9) Disapprove (0) 9 Share

True, there is a resident that is in that community that moved from his older home because of foundation problems only to move into his "new" Pulte built home to have the same problem. Shame on Pulte!!!! Recommend (3) Disapprove (0) 3 Share | E-Mail |

The homeowners cited in this article were never a part of Fairness for Fairhaven Now, buy back efforts. Pulte does not have the homeowner's best interest. Reply Reply Recommend (8) Disapprove (0) 8 Share

PEretired 7:08 AM on June 16, 2012 This hardly seems like "news". I also find the timing interesting--it comes just 3 days after it is announced that a letter has been sent to the FBI requesting that they investigate possible fraud. Is this "news" an "answer" to the FBI investigation request? If so, then who is (are) responsible for it?   Reply Recommend (8) Disapprove (1) 7

PE Retired, you are right this is not "news" Pulte is definitely trying to cover the truth. Pulte is a Fraud and need to be held accountable for its bad behavior. Recommend (3) Disapprove (0)
