CIBOLO, Texas - Most Houses in the Enclave of Willow Pointe are 3 to 5 years old. But some of the fences look a lot older because the ground is shifting and washing away, pulling some of the fences apart.
The fence line tells the story. Not really a line, but more like waves. Whole sections of fencing pulling away from each other. Fence posts that are leaning. Migdalia Aponte says this is her daughter and son-in-lawâs back fence. They were at work today, but she says theyâve been trying to fix the problem for a long timeâ¦.
She says, "so itâs not safe at all. He just put these pieces of wood."
They tried to fix it. First on their own. But it was only a quick fix. Then other sections began to fail. the ground washes out along the sloped yard leaving big gaps and wobbly fence posts.
Aponte showed us the fence saying, "this fence here is just tilting completely, it came separated completely from the side here."
She says they tried to work it out with the builder centex, but she says the company told her the fence was not under warranty. When we talked to CenTex the company spokesperson said they were not familiar with the case, but confirmed that the fence did not have a warranty and that it did not actually build the fence. It was subcontracted out.
We also contacted the City of Cibolo and it said that it's checked out the problem and said there may be a soil compaction issue, but that's something that should be taken up with the builder or developer who prepared the lot for building. so for now, itâs a matter of patching it and deciding how to repair or replace their fence...on their own.
