Fewer homes in Texas faced foreclosure in April compared with the previous month, according to figures released Thursday by Foreclosure.com.
In Texas, 3,481 new residential foreclosures were listed for sale as of the end of April -- bringing the state's total number of foreclosed properties to 9,266 for the year through April. At the end of March, 3,645 new homes put up for sale because of foreclosures. Nationwide, 27,417 new foreclosed residential properties made their way to the selling block in April. That's a 3 percent decrease from the number of new foreclosure listings in March. The number of U.S. foreclosed homes reached 76,786 during the first four months of this year. Brad Geisen, president and CEO of Boca Raton, Fla.-based Foreclosure.com, says the slight decrease in foreclosure inventory indicates some stabilization in the housing market over the past month.
