SA Home Builder Hit With Warranty Complaints
In March, the Defenders illustrated Mike Urzendowski's problems with his Stonewall Custom home: A cracked driveway and stucco, and flashing that allowed rain to come inside the house. Another StoneWall customer ..."The one thing I want is the house I paid for," said Lisa Forsyth, who moved into her StoneWall home last year. Now, Forsyth said her home has cracks in the tile, in the patio, the brick archways and the driveway. She said only duct tape keeps her bedroom door from blowing open and that StoneWall will not honor its warranty even after an inspector's report and a lawsuit. "I want the defects corrected; I want to come home to a house where I can raise my family in a safe, happy manner," Forsyth said. Related article: Man Asks For Settlement From Homebuilder
SA Home Builder Hit With Warranty Complaints
SAN ANTONIO --The website for StoneWall Custom Homes refers to the builder as an industry leader in home building, one offering a comprehensive warranty.
In March, the Defenders illustrated Mike Urzendowski's problems with his Stonewall Custom home: A cracked driveway and stucco, and flashing that allowed rain to come inside the house.
"This has really become a huge both emotional and financial burden on my family," Urzendowski said at the time.
He finally hired another contractor to do the repairs.
Another StoneWall customer is also considering that costly option, but wants the builder to do the warranted work for free.
"The one thing I want is the house I paid for," said Lisa Forsyth, who moved into her StoneWall home last year.
StoneWall's Matt Butler e-mailed the Defenders, saying "I agreed to make any and all current and warranted repairs. But since she sued StoneWall, I cannot come and fix anything until the suit settles."
But Forsyth said Butler e-mailed a different response to her attorney and that it involves an agreement to silence her criticism of Stonewall.
In that e-mail, Butler writes that he'll do some repairs if they "retract their claims against StoneWall to the BBB and to (the Defenders') Brian Mylar and KSAT."
As for the company's Better Business Bureau rating: "Currently they have an F rating with us," said Dean Taylor of the BBB.
StoneWall's website has photos of Urzendowski's home and Forsyth's, as well as guarantees on workmanship and materials.
But Lisa Forsyth wants to warn others that not every StoneWall customer is 100 percent satisfied.
