The list of defective products manufactured in other countries now includes Chinese drywall.

And more than 100 families in eastern Virginia say they are living a nightmare because of it.

"My child never had a bloody nose from the day we moved out of that house, and they had them constantly living in those houses."

The health problems that homeowners described at a General Assembly hearing, are just the tip of the iceberg.

They say the sulfurous fumes from Chinese drywall have corroded their metal plumbing, wiring, and other household products.

"It's not just the sheetrock in their home. It's not just the heat and ventilation systems. They've lost their furniture. They've lost their appliances. They've lost their computers. They've lost their clothes. They are homeless and nobody has stepped up to help them yet," said Republican Delegate Glenn Oder of Newport News.

So far, about 150 Virginia families are affected, most between Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, but the number may climb as high as 350.

New home warranties had expired by the time the problems appeared.

"All we know as homeowners is that I cannot live in my home any more. My first home that I purchased. I'm now a 31-year-old woman living with my mother because of this."

"Most of us are looking at bankruptcy and foreclosure, and we need assistance from our government in order to help protect us at this point until we can get the answers."

They didn't get the legislation that would have required insurance companies to renew their homeowner's policies..

But this week, the administration of Governor Bob McDonnell did appoint a state task force that homeowners hope will put more pressure on the federal government to find a fix.
