KB's Deceptive Marketing and Commissioner Chico Rodriguez Angers Homeowners

Homeowners Call For Builder To Buy Back Houses
The homeowners are asking KB Homes to buy back their homes because their property values are declining. Those homeowners say their home values went down after KB began building smaller and less expensive homes in the subdivisions. "The community is no older than 2 years, and most of us have already lost 10 to 15 percent because of the homes KB has decided to bring in and the prices they decided to bring," said homeowner Jennifer Czuhajewski.

Some homeowners on the Far Northwest Side are calling for a builder to buy back their homes.

The homes are located in Sundance Trails and Sundance Ridge subdivisions on Potranco Road.

County Commissioner Chico Rodriguez hosted a meeting with KB Homes and the homeowners Tuesday evening.

"We took their feedback, we sat down, and we listened to them," said KB spokesperson Cathy Teague. "And as a matter of fact, we've changed the new home designs in this community to address this specific issue."

According to KB Homes officials, they have eliminated the smallest and cheapest home plans for the neighborhoods.

What a mess..

Yes, rickytammy, you could look at your home mortgage like the stock market. You can attempt to buy low and sell high. Prices rose before, and if you are patient, your home will probably return to its original value. So I will just be patient.

Rob7t7 - 2:04 PM
Rickytammy you buy a new car today and it is worth 5000 less dollars the minute you drive it off of the lot. Is that something you go back to the dealer and try to get back? No! Why should KB buy these places back? They have no obligation to do so. When you buy in a new location you have no right to know what is going up around you it is smart to know but you don't have that right. The builder can put up a dump in your back yard after they sell you the house and you are stuck. Just because KB built smaller houses so that poor people can move into your neighborhood and bring down the value does not mean they have any responsability for what those homes did to your overpriced KB knock off house.

Rob7t7 - 2:00 PM
My wife and I sold our home in Leon Springs as soon as we heard that KB was going to build. 4 years later I am very happy I got out of dodge. The people that can afford a KB home is just about anyone so the quality of folks you get is the same in those new sub divisions.

uspsgirl - 1:07 PM
The values went down but I'll bet their taxes didn't?

Rob7t7 - 12:52 PM
Hey you got the loan and you purchased knock off family housing now you live with them KB's. Silly people you buy allot of house at low prices and you want quality housing? You got what you paid for now live with it.

rickytammy - 12:46 PM
so jaywalker, what you're basically saying is, buying a home is like playing the stock market? Am I correct?

Jaywalker - 12:06 PM
Buying a house is an investment in something you hope will appreciate, not depreciate. The new lower cost houses being built there are causing the property values of those who already live there to go down. I would be mad too. I live in a decent neighborhood, but because of the economy, many have sold their houses which are in turn bought by rental companies. The houses are still the same, but because they are "rentals", it causes the property values to go down for the people who own homes. Not much you can do about it, except to hope that the economy recovers.

mason3 - 11:30 AM
It's a built to order neighborhood what else did these homeowners think. Next time research your builder I would never buy a KB home.

rickytammy - 10:36 AM
I could see it if their homes were defective, but not just because the poor man is moving into the neighborhood. C'mon guys, that's like going back 40-50 years ago when an African American moved into a Caucasion neighborhood, we have overcome that.....

Dicky - 9:47 AM
For those who can't read between the lines, these people are mad because families who make less money than them were moving in to their neighborhood. They must be taking a page from the Dominions HOA. Too bad that area of town boomed and grew because of the lower housing costs!
