Lennar Homes Investigation Continues
Lennar homeowners allege their Wescott Plantation homes passed inspections without ever being inspected by North Charleston Officials. The complaints have been ongoing for years. And the pressure is increasing on one of the country's largest home builders..Lennar. "In the last week since the reports have started here in Charleston..our internet emails are coming in are about 75% from South Carolina," said Mike Morgan. And the complaints are the same... faulty trusses... structure violations... and in some cases...feeling flat out lied to by Lennar.

Charleston, SC -
The complaints have been ongoing for years. And the pressure is increasing on one of the country's largest home builders..Lennar.
"In the last week since the reports have started here in Charleston..our internet emails are coming in are about 75% from South Carolina," said Mike Morgan, webmaster of www.defectivehomes.org
.
And the complaints are the same... faulty trusses... structure violations... and in some cases...feeling flat out lied to by Lennar.
"All of these homeowners have defective homes with some serious code violations in terms of roof and building plans...when now they have to disclose to anybody they sell that home to," added Morgan.
We interviewed Ben Sauls last week who lived in Wescott...but had to move his family to Texas because of the violations which included combustible gases in the home..Lennar disagreed.
"There is no gas problem out here. There's just no issue,"said Michael Bottom of Lennar Inc.
We ask the North Charleston Building Director Darbis Briggman to respond to Sauls Allegations.
He released this statement saying... "Mr. Sauls contacted the City during the summer of 2006 and stated he believed there were building code issues...the city inspectors found two and notified Mr. Sauls on September 15th 2006. Lennar was also notified."
But in recent days...Briggman informed Sauls that despite past actions..he plans to help out the best he can.
"I believe Darbis is not very happy with Lennar at the moment. I'm not speaking for him but that's just my belief. He promised to help me by finding every code violation with the help of the state LLR and state inspectors," said Ben Sauls, resident of Wescott Plantation.
Some homeowners we talked to feel this stalemate between the builders and the city of North Charleston is becoming political and that next week's mayoral debate could change things.
