Mold can be a homeowner's worst nightmare
by Kelly Hildebrandt, News-Leader.com

Asbestos and lead paint were environmental concerns of yesteryear that once had homeowners scurrying to rid their homes of them. But now the dirty word is mold.  Recent concerns about the possible health risks of mold have spurred construction businesses to try to inhibit its growth with new techniques and supplies. Companies such as GeoTek Engineering & Testing Services Inc. in Sioux Falls, which does air-quality consulting, have never been busier.

Mold Not Covered By Most Insurance Companies
by News19

A Blythewood woman says mold is growing inside her home, but her insurance policy does not cover mold removal. "I didn't know that anything was going wrong," explained Frona Haddad, who says a plumber spotted mold growing underneath her home while fixing a burst pipe.  Haddad, who has limited mobility due to multiple sclerosis, says she began to notice mold growing inside her closet, black spots on her carpet, weak floor boards and an unusual cough coming from her cats.

Indoor survey of moulds and prevalence of mould atopy in Israel
by www.pubmed.gov

BACKGROUND: Moulds are ubiquitous indoor as well as outdoor allergens and therefore potential candidates for indoor environmental control measures. However, very few studies have been performed to examine the significance of indoor moulds in allergic diseases and the effectiveness of measures to reduce the quantity of indoor moulds has not been established. OBJECTIVE: To determine the significance and the contribution of moulds to allergic manifestations.
