More cutbacks for Lennar
Lennar Corp., the big Miami home builder that reported a $255 million loss in the most recent quarter, has trimmed more than 60 additional positions from its Southwest Florida division, bringing it to its pre-housing-boom levels, an executive said. The cuts this week included Rob Allegra, the division president of Lennar Sarasota/Manatee, who has been the face of the home builder locally for more than a decade.

Methane Gas Problems in Lennar Homes
Below are two excerpts from reports commissioned by Lennar Corporation and delivered to Lennar Corporation. The full reports are full of startling details and numbers. The saddest thing about this, is Lennar knew about it, but instead of doing the right thing, they put these homeowners through the ringer. Now the state and federal authorities are investigating, and three prominent law firms are looking at the reports...The concentrations of methane exceed the lower explosive limit beneath the slab, and therefore pose a potential threat to the safety of the occupants within the buildings.

Former Lennar Homes Employee Speaks Out
Charleston, SC - One of the nation's largest home builders continues to steal the spotlight here at home as allegations of bad building surround Lennar Homes.  Now, a former employee is speaking out.  He says some of these big builders like Lennar Homes, who he once worked for, cut corners just to meet their quotas.  That's because he says it's the number of homes they're after, not the quality.  But he says the City is also at fault.

Lennar Division President Reacts to Defective Home Claims
Hull says Lennar knew about the problems before homeowners complained. Lennar offered him about $10,000 dollars for the missing square footage. Hull wants Lennar to buy his home back. Bottoms said in response, “I mean, we are not in the business of buying homes back.  We want to be able to take care of our customers and be able to provide a high level of customer service.” Pro-sight Inspections says it found similar structural concerns in at least three other Lennar homes. Lennar says those homeowners are a small minority compared to thousands of satisfied customers across the country.

Lennar Home troubles with condo owners

Condo owners upset by work done by builder
Cullen and other owners of condominiums at the 240-unit residential complex at 200 Brannan Street have been threatening lawsuits and battling the builder over defects, including uneven floors, improper ventilation, crooked balconies and shoddy cabinetry. Water seeps into the building's garage. Garage door malfunctions have led to thefts of bicycles and raised security concerns. The homeowners' plight is of broader interest because the builder with which they have been at odds is Lennar Corp., the Miami firm that Mayor Gavin Newsom's administration wants to see carry out redevelopment projects at Treasure Island, Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point.
