Have you emailed your US Congress representatives (1 House, 2 Senators) and told them to vote NO on the $700 BILLION bailout for corrupt, dishonest and greedy businesses? Have you told them how ANGRY you are that THEY let this happen? Have you told them your story? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? A bailout vote is expected in Congress THIS WEEK.

PS  I emailed mine with the link to my blog, http://peretired.blogspot.com/

yes done. When a taxpayer/customer makes a mistake those banks have no mercy whatsoever, but still expect tax payers to bail them out when they make a long series of now obvious mistakes, that is to anybody not blind with greed.

This is what they want US to pay for:

kinda like "closing the barn door after the horse ran away".

where was the FBI, the president, the congress, the FTC, the SEC, etc., etc., etc., when all this %&#@&% was coming down?

as a matter of fact, other than the "johnny come lately FBI", where are the rest of them NOW?

Here's just one of several anti-bailout petitions I've seen: http://action.citizen.org/petition.jsp?petition_KEY=1405  Some petitions/letters to congress want no bailout, others want consumers included in some kind of help if they're going to bail out banks and other companies.  Either way, it's clear that congress and wall street's idea of a good bill has NOTHING to do with helping consumers, and everything to do with helping wealthy CEO's and their pet politicians.

GOOD LINK!  I urge EVERYONE to sign the petition, and take the other actions recommended by Public Citizen.

we understand that you're preoccupied in Texas with TRCC. maybe those in the other 49 can speak up on this national issue.

I'm sorry, Marc; I was under the impression that Homeowners for Better Building was a national movement. Why else would all 50 states be listed in the "Talk with others in your State" forum?

"The U.S. Savings and Loan crisis of the 1980s and early 1990s was the failure of 747 savings and loan associations (S&Ls) in the United States. The ultimate cost of the crisis is estimated to have totaled around $160.1 billion, about $124.6 billion of which was directly paid for by the U.S. taxpayer...By November 1989, the estimated cost of the overall savings and loan crisis had reached $500 billion."     source: wikipedia

Our nation seems to be sending our government a message: "We don't trust the system to do the right thing."

I'm sure that there must be some good people in Congress, and in the rest of the government. But, look at them! They fight. They call each other names. They act like a bunch of two year olds.

How do you expect greed to fight greed? The lifeblood of this country is money. The lifeblood of government is money. Lobbyists for fat cats give politicians money for their campaigns and the politicians react accordingly. That's the system. That's how it works. You reap what you sow.

How can anyone respect a system that is based in bribery? The politicians and the lobbyists will deny that it's bribery, but we know better. If it looks like a pig, eats like a pig, and oinks like a pig, then it's a pig!

Small wonder that people are emailing and calling their government representatives 100, 200 and 300 to 1 and telling them not to vote for the bailout. They don't trust the system.
