Title: Magnuson-Moss Act.
Post by: marc on August 11, 2008, 04:50:41 pm
So sorry, I just cannot log into the previous thread so I started this one.
I was told at a consumer law course the Magnuson-Moss Act does not cover homes. I was told that by a prominent consumer attorney. It makes sense since all of us would be using that act to get our "houses" fixed.

I have even seen lawyers come along who insist that MMWA applies, but I've never seen any of them suceed in using it on a house.  It apparently does apply to manufactured (mobile) homes because they are a "product," whereas a house is not.  I'd love to see someone finally suceed in getting a court decision or law change that says houses fall under MMWA, but so far I have not seen it happen.  I have asked the lawyers who insist it applies for something to show that it does and without exception they come up empty handed.  Would love to be wrong on this.
