Hello glad to be here. I was doing some  research on a builder who I am  considering to  build my wife and I home. I found little information about them. However, I did find that they seemed to have changed their name from Craft Homes to True Homes. At any rate thanks alot, and any help toward finding a builder will be helpful. I am a Veteran new to the Charlotte Area.

Welcome to the forum.  A lot of us have already gone through hell and back and are more than happy to assist others so that the same doesn't happen to them.

Do look at homeowners website links-doesn't matter the builder name.
There are reasons HOBB and HADD exist.
Do not be deceived by ratings or bureau standings that builders pay to promote their business.

Craft Homes and True Homes are too generic as names to easily research online. My general impression of Charlotte (assumed NC.), builders tend to be more conscientious people in that part of the country. Seems to be a pretty decent place to live from what I’ve heard, IMO.

Update: that opinion was based largely on City-Data posts, and now knowing that city-data arbitrarily delete posts because they aren't positive or promotional, it’s not reliable info. You only see mostly positive info about such places through city-data because that’s all they allow.


Buying a new home, it is no different than any other place, in that buying a home is primarily a buyer beware situation. And that your due diligence (to beware) is circumvented as much as possible by the building industry.

People tend to come here with builder problems, so I don’t think you’ll get a specific builder recommendations here. It is one of the few places my home’s builder has not generated significant or visible complaints to my knowledge, which says a lot to me.

Even with sorely lacking consumer protection, it’s a good a time as any time to build a new home for long term if you have the facts and still want to. That’s only if you're insulated against what will be a continued economic downturn / recession, and you can risk possible devaluation on a new home value for a while.

Buying a new home doesn’t interest me personally, regardless, because of unresolved consumer protection issues. There are many pitfalls, but read this site, and check links so you at least know the down sides well. Some issues that do happen will likely surprise you.
