Title: Lennar, Brockovich, mail tampering?
Post by: Jane Doe on May 22, 2008, 03:35:10 pm
This is the 2nd time I'm trying to post this.  http://activerain.com/blogsview/498739/Lennar-Letter-to-Homeowners  Real estate site taking Lennar's side on the contaminated development Brockovich is investigating.  I seriously doubt she'd risk all the time and money if there was no contamination, but i'll be interested to see how this comes out.  BTW, the article on your home pg about Lennar's letters amounting to mail tampering, is there a link?  Was there more to the story?

Irregardless?

Lennar repeatedly violates Federal Mail Tampering Laws in Wescott Plantation, S.C.
May 22,2008
Lennar Division President disregards federal mail tampering laws despite warning

In anticipation of another community meeting to discuss environmental test results, hosted by Erin Brockovich and the law firms of Masry & Vititoe, and Girardi Kreese, Lennar issued and illegally distributed a letter dated May 5, 2008 into the mail boxes of some 300 Lennar homeowners in Wescott Plantation, North Charleston, SC.

The community meeting held May 6th at the Tivoli Theatre in downtown Charleston was attended by an overflowing crowd of concerned homeowners and media.

Following years of unresolved conflicts with Lennar, distrustful homeowners contacted the Oakbrook Postal Station with concerns over mail fraud and mail tampering. The postal service representative confirmed the illegality of Lennar invading private mailboxes for their own purposes, and a warning was sent by the Oakbrook Postal Station to Robert Hilliard, Lennar Divisional President.

*Irregardless of the warning, Lennar again tampered with the mail placing a second letter into homeowner's mailboxes to refute the disclosures presented to homeowners by Brockovich et al. at the community meeting.

Mail tampering is a violation of Federal Law and carries with it stiff fines and penalties. Why does Lennar and some of its employees act as if they are above the Law?
