Title: Developer Earl Galleher of Summer Rest Road to be investigated for Wetland Viola Post by: Enviro Justice on January 22, 2008, 08:12:23 am EnviroJustice of Wilmington, North Carolina has reported Developer Earl Galleher, the registered agent for Waterline Marine Construction to the US Corps of Engineers, CAMA, the Division of Water Quality for the State of North Carolina, among other regulators for violations to the wetlands at the Babies Hospital site on Summer Rest Road.
Waterline, which is a company controlled by Galleher allegedly pulled illegal permits to construct an extensive dock and bulkhead on the sensitive wetlands (corner of Summer Rest Road and Eastwood Road). We understand Waterline pulled the permit under another contractors name and license number to destruct the sensitive wetlands on Summer Rest Road. Galleher and Waterline have destroyed sensitive vegitation to construct a bulkhead, are dumping sand and other fill materials into the sensitive wetlands and have not installed any silt fencing or other retention devices. This is a very visible site and very sensitive wetland area. We are greatly disturbed by these and other violations by Galleher and Waterline Marine which are occurring in broad daylight without any Federal, State or County oversight.
